Richard Nunez was born on March 3rd, 1961 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Henry and Ester Nunez. He is of both Hispanic and Native American descent. His parent’s roots go back 3 to 4 generations from Texas. His discovery of his Native American connection (Mescalero Apache) occurred in the mid 90’s.
Richard is the second born of six children. Gifted from an early age he would achieve local honors throughout his early life before graduating from Southside High School in Fort Wayne in 1979.
Passing on an opportunity by WMEE FM to receive an engineering/communications degree to become a disc jockey, would find him spending the next 10 years working in various capacities at various jobs, but always with art as his real passion.
In the early 90’s, after two failed marriages and a desire to still become an artist, Nunez decided to drive to Phoenix, Arizona, and find his path in life. Passing through Dallas, Texas to research his family’s roots would cause him to stay and eventually become the Artist he is today.
Finally, in 2005, on his 45th birthday, Nunez would be ready to take that leap of Faith and pursue becoming a full time Artist. His birthday that year made him realize he was in a now-or-never situation to living the dream he was born with.
